Its hard losing 2 games in a row, both important match ups. But the US National Hockey teams, both men's and women's have to deal with the disappointment of it. The US Women's team was up 2-0, and then it fell apart. The Canadians scored 3 consecutive as the US fell to a 3-2 loss in OT. After that, the US went up to the podium in tears, with nothing to do. The US Men's team was a different story however, the Canadians scored there only goal late into the second period putting the US in a scary place. That game finished 1-0 as the men's team also fell to a loss. Although both the men's and women's lost. There is no time for sadness. There is always another chance for redemption. Hopefully that redemption can be in another 4 years in PyeongChang, South Korea.
I really like the poem "How to be a Poet". I'm going to be honest, until now, I have never heard it. It's based upon finding a method to write that works best for you. After reading this, I can really relate to the poem, I have that special spot where I got to write and I also make sure I always listen to music. This poem really reminds me to not focus on being a poet, but more on life in general, focusing on the stuff that matters and will help you get further in life. I've noticed how a lot of kids have been talking about how after hearing it time, and time, again, it gets boring for them. I don' think that will be the case for me. Here it is
Whenever I am in doubt about getting something done, I always turn to Eric Thomas's speech "How bad do you want it?". I choose this for my WW Fenn last year and I loved memorizing it. When I'm not feeling good, or I don't want to do something. I listen do this. I recommend this video to everyone who needs a bit of encouragement about getting something done. Hope you enjoy. - Pava
My favorite ballad was "Edward". Its based upon this man, who happens to be interrogating another man and threatening him with a knife. It is quiet a strange poem, but an interesting one. He keeps pushing the man, giving him more and more questions. There is a lot of parallelism, which has became a familiar theme in all of these balladmonger's including Gallows Pole. Another important theme is depression, I've noticed how all these balad's have been really sad, which can sometimes be a good thing or a bad thing. I've also noticed that all of the Ballads have some meaning behind it, unlike some raps songs where it is just a guy cursing. But overall, I am starting to like ballads. Although this one may be a bit strange, I still recommend it to anyone.
There is a lot of debate between how you pronounce it. A gif, is a short video often times seen on iFunny or Reddit. But there is often times a lot of debate between how you pronounce it. I personally think it is gif. I think Jif sounds weird and just doesn't fit the scene for funny videos. Leave a comment on what you think the pronunciation is.
My favorite poem was Still I rise my Maya Angelou. I found this poem to be extremely inspiring, not only did it teach me to get up after you fall. But to dream "big" and reach for the stars. I really enjoyed reading it and I love how Maya kept me entertained. Whenever Maya said "I rise" it really emphasized the poem to be the best it can be. Although repetition can hurt a poem, Maya made it work for me. This poem was definitely one to remember.
My favorite ballad was Gallows Pole. This ballad made me really think. At first I really didn't understand it, but after I read it a few times it made a lot of sense to me. I found it to be extremely sad, but unlike most songs or poems, it actually men't something. It is about a man who tries to save himself from being hung by giving the hangman money, aswell as letting him rape his sister. The hangman still kills the man and takes the money. This shows how cruel people can be. From the sounds of it, this poem was based from a while ago and this also shows that people are still cruel like this today. Overall, I really don't mind ballads. Its something that really makes me think and challenges me.
For my entire life, I have lived in the Boston area. With this in mind, I have become known to Boston as one of my favorite cities in the world. The sports, food and entertainment has keep it extremely fun for me. You also meet people and things, that you really love to do or meet. For me, I have my favorite restaurant. Sportello, I haven't been there in a while but every-time I go it gets better. The food keeps me there. Whenever I go, I usually get the Tagliatelle, which is Tagliatelle with meat-sauce. It is so good, but always better the next day. We usually bring 2-3 bowls home with us to consume the day after. Then there is YogurtLand. My favorite frozen yogurt in the world. I usually get plain tart with Oreo cookies on top. And man, when I tell you I eat it like no tomorrow I am not joking. I have my mom bring me some home every single day of the week. I did the math, and I consume 5 pounds of it a week! Then there is the sports. In my opinion, Boston is the greatest sports city in the us. We have won more championships then any other city in the United States. Now that my friend, is crazy. Overall, I really love Boston. Boston has a great history, and I can see a great future for it too.
Everyone uses them differently. Some people slack off and others actually get work done. I'm pretty sure the majority of the grade slacks off though (including me). But then again, you are screwing yourself over by not getting your work done. By not getting it done, you are going to be up till 1 in the morning on Sunday night trying too. This happens to almost everyone, but we still continue to do it.
It only happens every two years. But when it happens it is my favorite time of the year. The Olympics are a great excuse to watch and do homework too at the same time. I find it extremely entertaining to watch all these world class athletes win gold. My favorite event has to be the hockey. Although, some of the games are scheduled to be at 3am in the morning. I am going to find some time to watch them play. The Olympics are a lot of fun, but I wish they could go year round.
